Library Rules

In super session of all the previous library rules, the following, rules come into force from the 16th August, 2005.

 Introduction

 The College library is a place for quiet study and reading.
 Members should strictly follow these rules and regulations. The college library has an open access system.
 Use books freely, but do not put them on the shelves.
 Members may please take the help of the librarian whenever they find any difficulty in locating the books.

 Membership

 Only staff and students of this college are entitled to hold College ID card astheir library membership card which is not transferable.
 Members will not be allowed to enter the library without their “Membership Card”.
 Library facilities and borrowing privileges may be extended to scholars, alumni, research students with special permission of the principal.

 Working Hours

 Monday to Saturday - 8:00 am – 6:00 pm

  General Rules

 Library members can enter and exit only after entering their membership card at the E-Gate register at the entrance.
 Students should maintain strict silence in the library.
 Students are allowed to take the books outside the library only after completed the lending procedure. Sub-lending of library book is strictly prohibited.
 Eatable are strictly prohibited in the library
 Bags, personal Books and coats are not allowed inside the library. Keep your belongings at the property counter.
 Students should obtain; ‘No dues certificate’ before the University Exam each semester/year.
 Put the chairs back in the proper position or keep the chairs arranged in proper position after use.
 Electric power is precious do not waste it. Switch off the fans and lights after use.
 Do not replace the books used for reference on the rack. Kindly keep / leave it on the table.
 Mobile phones are not allowed in the library.
 Students are not allowed to leave the library during the library hours.
 Readers should leave the library hall 10 minutes before closing time.

  Issue of Books

 Books will be issued on the library card.
 No. of books issued per membership card
a. Faculty/Staff - Books
b. B.Sc students - Books
c. M.Sc students - Books
 General books will be issued for a period of 14 days and the same can be renewed for 7 days.
 Staff can avail the book for a period of 14 days
 Books in demand will be issued for one day and returned before 4.00 pm of the next working day.
 Reference Books will not be issued and it should not take it out from the library
 Journals and CD’s will not be issued.
 Previous Question papers (University Exam) is made available in the library and can be photocopied.
 Xerox facilities are available in the library which is on payment of cash (Rs. 1 per page)
 The Librarian has the right to call for the issued books at any time before the due date.
 Members are requested to see that the issue register is signed off, at the time of returning the books, by the librarian.
 Book will be issued the time between 10am – 4pm for B.Sc (N) students and 10 am – 5 pm for M.Sc (N) students.
 A fine of Rs. 1@ – per day will charged for books not returned on the due date.
 Fines will be charged accordingly, for books which are found damaged or marked.
 Thrice the actual cost of a book will be charged if a book is found to be lost. The decision of the library committee in this matter will be final.
 Students who are eligible for Book Bank facility can avail this service through special application.
 Library books must not be scribbled or scratched and pages must not be torn or otherwise damaged. Those taking the books should take them out only after verifying them. The recipient will be held responsible and subject to legal action for any defects found upon return.

 Gate Checking

 On leaving the library please allow the person at the gate to check what you are taking out of the library. Your co-operation is utmost essential.
 All the members, please take the greatest care of the library books. Let us show by the care of the library books that we know how to appreciate them.
